Sounds for the Soul . . .

The beach during the colder months has a certain ethereal quality to it.  The desolate beach filled with nothing but the sound of the wind, the waves, utter and complete silence.

Do you think it’s odd that my husband and I love the beach after the summer months? Maybe, but I would venture to say we are in good company.  While in Cape May this past Monday, the weather was a bit colder than it’s been in recent weeks.  It has finally taken on a fall quality, crisp air and a small bite to the wind as it whips against your face.  Even with the cold and wind, there were still people on the beach.  Like us, taking in the peacefulness and quiet.  The tourists have gone home, many of the beach shops have closed, due to reopen next season.  This makes for a much less traveled area giving people who live locally the opportunity to have the beach basically to themselves.

As you can see it was a cloudy, rainy day, which makes for beautiful photographs that tell a great story.  People have been here recently, some just watching the waves roll in and back out to sea, others going on a walk, and some, like me, taking photographs.  Gulls are standing their ground, holding on dearly as the wind ruffles their feathers.  Dogs seem particularly happy to have their home to themselves again, out on a brisk walk with their humans.

Although I am more of a warm weather person, there are certain advantages to the cold weather months.  Traffic is less, the beach is quieter and can be enjoyed by all who live close by.  The sky seems to speak volumes during the cold months, the sun is lower in the sky, the clouds are more abundant, revealing so much more than during the summer months.  I’ll get back soon, during a sunny day, to show the amazing color the winter sky produces.

Have a great week ahead, as always, thanks for stopping by and sharing in my corner of the world . . .

Until next week ~
