first beach day . . .

“The beautiful spring came; and when Nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also.” ~ Harriet Ann Jacobs

I typically photograph still life and flowers, but the weather was nice and I needed to get out and feel the sun, so this week I wanted to share some of the photographs I took in Ocean City, NJ with you.  I hope you enjoy them.

This past weekend we actually had two days of springlike weather.  Winter sure has it’s grip on us this year.  When the official first day of spring arrives, it should be warm, or so we think, but Mother Nature has had a different idea in mind.  March and April have been extremely cold, and we even had a snowstorm in April.  The day after I took these photographs we returned to winter temperatures, rain and extreme wind.

Last Friday and Saturday Mother Nature gave us a reprieve or was it a tease?  Either way, it was warm, sunny and finally felt like spring had arrived.  What better way to spend a warm sunny day then at the beach?

Although it was warm, it wasn’t July warm by any means.  The water temperature is still 45° Fahrenheit, which in my book, is COLD!  The boardwalk was buzzing with people since the Doo Dah Parade had taken place earlier that morning.  People were out in shorts, flip flops and even bikinis, crazy since it was still extremely cold especially once you went down to the water’s edge.  I must confess, even I had flip flops on and it was wonderful not wearing shoes again.

It was nice to feel the sun on your face and to see small children playing, not a care in the world except skipping in the ocean surf.

Summer will soon be here and it will be welcomed with open arms.  Warm days, cools nights, beach filled weekends and just a general easiness.  So, frolic in the ocean water and enjoy the sunshine!

Thank you for stopping by, have a great week and I’ll see you again next week . . .
