Autumn has made its way to NJ. The temperatures are much cooler, rain has become a weekly, if not a daily event and the leaves are finally turning beautiful shades of yellow, orange and red.
With the onset of cooler temps, I have begun cooking and baking more than I normally would in the summer months. Summer is for BBQs, cold salads and ice cream. Autumn and Winter are meant for soups, stews, roasts and baking. Foods that warm your house and your tummy.
This week I decided to try a new recipe for chocolate chip cookies. If you are one who loves to bake then you should take a look at Sally’s Baking Addiction, her website is chock full of cookie, bread, cake and pie recipes. Basically anything yummy! She offers tips and tricks as well for your baking pleasure.

I enjoy food photography and so I wanted to try my hand at photographing these delicious cookies. So without further ado . . .
When you think about food, of any type, rarely do you think about what goes into photographing that food item, to make it look like something you want to eat. Like most people, I took it for granted, but someone must take those photos. Food styling for photography is a huge industry. There are people, whose job it is, just to make food look so good, you want to either make a recipe, or go to a restaurant that offers that particular food item, to do what else, well, eat it of course!
I had so much fun photographing this, and hope one day I can do more of it!! With each styled set up, I tried to envision someone viewing the photograph, then liking what they saw so much that they would want to bake them!
I have been reading much about food photography, to find out how such fabulous images are taken. Most of the people I follow on Instagram or follow their food blogs, use one of two main camera lenses for their images. Luckily, I own both, the first is a 50mm lens and the second is a 100mm 2.8 macro lens. The shots shown in today’s blog were taken with my macro lens. I wanted to show the texture and gooeyness of each cookie, therefore I wanted to get close enough to be able to share that with you all. The macro lens allows you to pull back enough, to show some of the styling used in the image, but get close enough to show off the texture and character of each cookie too.
Well, I’m not really sure what else to say about these amazingly delicious cookies, except to say, bake some and try them for yourself, you will not be disappointed. There is nothing better than a warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie and an ice cold glass of milk.
