God’s Plan . . .

In the past month I have listened to two Audible books dealing with immortality and dying, on Sunday night I finished watching the mini-series on Netflix titled “Messiah”. I don’t believe myself to be an extremely religious person, but I must admit, the influx of these topics sure does have me thinking. I do believe in God and Heaven, sadly, I don’t think about it much.

Life has a funny way of making us think about topics we don’t really want to think about. After listening to these two books, (linked here: The Immortalist and The Next Person You Meet in Heaven) I began to think about many things. Mortality, a difficult topic, if you were given the exact date you were going to die, would you want to know? Would the knowledge of this date change how you lived your life? Heaven, maybe an easier topic, when the idea of Heaven is portrayed in Mitch Albom’s book, it is a journey, an explanation from five people met during the main character’s life, and how those people lead her to discover her Heaven, which is different for every person. In The Messiah, is the main character a Savior or the AntiChris?, If he is the Messiah, would you believe? I think there are many who would want to believe and would, then many who would think he was a hoax.

What is God’s plan? I’m sure many of us have asked this question, I know I have. That may not be something we know immediately, if ever. I do believe that things happen for a reason and maybe that is God’s plan. Whether events are good or bad, they shape our lives. If it wasn’t for some happy events that turned unhappy, in my own life, I wouldn’t be a mother to my wonderful daughter or a grandmother to her amazing little boy. I believe that was part of God’s plan, for me.

What happens now though? I struggle with this quite often, where do I go from here? I survived cancer to be here for a reason, yet, what is that reason. Aside from having a beautiful and loving family, what is God’s plan for me? I honestly don’t know the answer to that question, I am hoping He does.

Hope is one of the greatest gifts we are given in life. Without hope, where would most of us be? Hope makes it possible to begin each day new, strive to be someone good, contribute to others lives and make our purpose here meaningful. So, I hope. I hope that when whatever is meant to be for me presents itself, I will know.

I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord. They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope. Jeremiah 29:11

Have a great week and I hope you find the peace you deserve . . .

As always, thank you for following along

  1. You mention so many things here. My heart is overwhelmed with what I’d like to say. One thing you said is that you hope God knows what His plan is for you … My response to that is yes He does! It’s exactly what is said in the verse you quoted … Jeremiah 29:11. He does know the plans He has for you. And they’re for a future and a hope. He asks us to hope in Him throughout His word. And hope is just a choice. Something you decide to do … and maybe you have to choose that every day or many times throughout each day. His plan is also that you receive Him as your savior. The Bible says His desire is that all be saved. And that just happens through us stating that we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Some who say those words don’t understand at the time what it means, but with a continuance in seeking Him through prayer (just talking to Him) and reading His Word, the Bible, you come to realize what a beautiful thing it is that has happened. I’m one of those people. He is there for you when you open up your heart to Him.

  2. Amen, Carolyn! I will join you in praying for His work to be done! It’s always exciting to see how God draws us to Himself in different ways. He loves us so much that He sent His only Son to pay the price for our sin that we cannot pay. Just so we could have relationship with Him! ❤️❤️ Because He rose again and sits on His throne we can have the hope of His return. What a gift God has offered us-eternal life-if only we turn to Him and accept His gift of salvation through faith. 💜
